The earth work for the Khajjidoni – Lokapur section of Bagalkot – Kudachi New Line is on full swing. This new line will enhance railway connectivity and boost the economy of the region.
The foundation stone was laid in the January 2023 for the construction of the new Khajjidoni-Lokapur line. The 142 km Bagalkot-Kudachi (Belagavi District) line was approved in 2010-11, while the Bagalkot-Khajjidoni 30 km line was commissioned in 2018. The continuation of the Khajjidoni-Lokapur 9 km route has been started and it is expected to be completed within the year.
The 9 km Khajjidoni-Lokapura rail line is being constructed at a cost of Rs 140 crore. Lokapura is being developed as a commercial city, export of lime, cement, fruits and non-work crops will help in the development of tourism.
