South-Western Railway will be replacing conventional coaches of Train No.12779/12780 with Linke Hofmann Busch (LHB) coaches, which provide superior passenger comfort for the following special trains, a release said.
The conventional rake of Train 12779 / 12780 Vasco Da Gama – Hazrat Nizamuddin – Vasco Da Gama Express Special will be replaced with LHB coaches from May 26 (1st rake), May 27 (2nd rake) at Vasco Da Gama and from May 28 (1st rake), May 29 (2nd rake) at the Hazrat Nizamuddin end.
The above mentioned trains will run with a revised composition : One AC 2-tier coach, four AC 3-tier coaches, Eight second-class sleeper coaches, three general second-class coaches/Deen dayalu, two luggage-cum-brake vans with generator, two high-capacity parcel vans, and one AC hot buffet car.
LHB coaches are far superior to ICF coaches with respect to passenger comfort, safety, speed, corrosion, maintenance, and aesthetics. These coaches are also longer as compared to ICF design resulting into more carrying capacity
