India’s indigenous semi-high-speed train – Vande Bharat Express train which was expected to run between Bengaluru-Belagavi isn’t hapening due to technical difficulties according to Rajya Sabha member Iranna Kadadi.
Speaking at a press conference in Belagavi on Friday (23 Jun), he said that the train will run at a speed of 110 kmph on the Bengaluru-Dharwad route, taking six and a half hours in the trial run that was conducted recently. However, plans are underway to increase the speed to 130 kmph, which would shorten the journey to four and a half hours. There was an intention to run this train till Belagavi, but due to incomplete track doubling work and electrification it was decided to run till Dharwad only.
Another important technical reason was curves on the Dharwad-Belagavi section that make it difficult to reach the desired speed of 110 kmph. However it will be extended to Belagavi once the authorities resolve these two technical difficulties. Said Iranna Kadadi.
Responding to a question from press persons on Belagavi-Kittur-Dharwad new railway line, Member of Parliament Mangala Angadi said that, land acquisition for the 70 km length from Dharwad is in process, It will be completed within time period.
