
Belagavi’s new MP Mangala Suresh Angadi appealed Cm to take measures to start treatment for Black fungus in Belagavi on Monday. Through tweets she mentioned that “Called on hon’ble CM of Karnataka B S Yadiyurappa at Bengaluru today and updated him about the measures taken to control Covid-19 in Belagavi, progress made so far”
“In a bid to treat people with Black Fungus, state government has started treatment centers at many districts. I requested the CM to grant permission to start a treatment center at Belagavi as well to which CM has responded positively & immediately instructed the officials to expedite on it”
What’s Black Fungus ? : Black fungus is a post-covid complication and those who are have uncontrolled diabetes and use high dosage of steroids are vulnerable for this disease. Those who under go organ transplantation and those with immunocompromised conditions like HIV are also likely to contract this.
The fungus enters through nasal cavity in the persons with low immunity. Then it will attack eye sight. One should get treatment immediately after it enters nose. It is learnt that the water used in humidifiers in hospitals is causing this. Experts panel has been set up to find out the exact cause of this disease.
Black fungus cases in District : Black fungus has claimed two lives in Belagavi district. Doctors have identified seven more cases of black fungus in the district. Two cases of white fungus have also been detected. All of them are COVID-19 positive patients.
