The black-and-yellow autorickshaws in Belagavi city have turned with a green-and-yellow paint .
To create green awareness, the transport department issued an order in April – 2017 that all autorickshaws in Belagavi City Corpoartion limits should change their lower section’s black colour to green. The upper part will continue to yellow. As of today 70-80% of autorikshaws turned Green.
This is on the lines of three-wheelers in New Delhi, Bengaluru and other metropolitan cities. . where all autorickshaws use compressed natural gas (CNG). In Belagavi, they run on bi-fuel mode — LPG (not the domestic version) as well as petrol or diesel.
Of the nearly 8000 autorickshaws in the city, majority are 4-stroke engines, while very few are 2-stroke models. All the autorikshaws which are up for license renewal must have Green lower section and Yellow at upper part
And Belagavi is the only city after Bengaluru to implement this code
