Tata Consultancy Services (TCS), a giant in the IT industry, investing over thousands of crores on Semiconductor manufacturing. An attempt is being made by businessmen and experts to persuade them to set up a semiconductor industry in Belagavi. With the support of the state government, Belagavi is expected to become a hub for semiconductor chip production in the coming days.
Currently, there is only semiconductor chip making industry in Chandigarh in entire country. Here Chip is being made using old technology. Against this backdrop, Tata group is in talks with three states to invest up to Rs.4000 crores to set up a semiconductor assembly and test unit.
Semiconductor manufacturing ventures are going to be set up in three parts of the country, including Hosur, in Tamil Nadu. The businessmen here are trying to bring the unit to Belagavi. But this requires the co-operation of the state government. If this effort sees success, there will be enormous employment opportunities in Belagavi.
The Meeting on Discussion of Belagavi industrial Development is being organised on 5th January at Private Hotel in Belagavi. Businessmen and experts to discuss regarding this with IT-BT and higher education minister of Karnataka C.N. Ashwath Narayan. TCS Karnataka Chief Sunil Deshpande and Chief Operating Officer (COO) NG Subramanya will be attending the meeting. Also, KLE’s Chairman Dr. Prabhakar Kore, Leading businessmen and experts, including Credai President Chaitanya Kulkarni, Belgaum Chamber of Commerce Officers, will discuss industrial development plans.
