A meeting with Hon’ble MPs within jurisdiction of Hubballi Division of SWR was held at Rail Soudha. Gadag Road, Hubballi on Saturday (16.10.2021). All zonal Railways are conducting meeting with Hon’ble Members of Parliament to highlight the issues of public importance in order to help Railways to improve the functioning & services.
Shri Pralhad Joshi, Hon’ble Minister of Parliamentary Affairs, Coal and Mines, Govt. of India, Shri Ramesh Jigajinagi, Hon’ble MP of Vijayapura, Shri P.C. Gaddigoudar, Hon’ble MP of Bagalkot, Shri Karadi Sanganna, Hon’ble MP of Koppal, Shri Y Devendrappa, Hon’ble MP of Ballari. Smt. Mangal Angadi, Hon’ble MP of Belagavi, Shri Iranna Kadadi, Hon’ble MP of Rajya Sabha, Shri Vinay Tendulkar, Hon’ble Member of Rajya Sabha, Shri Sanjaykaka Patil, Hon’ble MP. Sangli participated in the meeting. Dr. Jaisiddeshwar Shivacharya Mahaswamiji, Hon’ble MP. Solapur attended the meeting through video conference.
Welcoming the dignitaries Shri Sanjeev Kishore. General manager, South Westem Railway highlighted the performance of South Western Railways and rail developments that took place in the Zone in the recent past. He said that the South Westem Railway has added 50 Kms of New Lines, 174 Kms of Doubling to its network since April 2020 up to August 2021.
Progress of various railway projects of South Western Railway like new line, doubling and electrification of railway tracks, provision of passenger amenities, provision of stoppage of trains, construction of Road Over bridges / Road Under Bridges, stations redevelopment work etc. were discussed in the meeting. General Manager assured the Hon’ble Members of Parliament that their advice and suggestions will be given highest priority and best efforts will be put up to implement them.
Expressing that the doubling and electrification work is occurring at a phenomenal pace, he noted that the doubling of Hubballi and Belagavi is under process. A new line is expected to be laid between Dharwad and Belagavi, and Bagalkot and Kudachi. He added that the complete electrification of the line between Bellary and Huballi will be completed by November. In addition, Belagavi is expected to get a new station by 2023.
Talking about the progress made by SWR, GM Sanjeev Kishore said that SWR has resumed up to 80 of its trains and has managed to revive more trains than any other zones. He also noted that SW Railways also made a huge jump in punctuality from the 16th position to the 3rd position.

Hubbali Railways Division Manager, Arvind Malkhede commended the efforts being made to beautify the railway stations. The beautification of the Indi Road Railway Station, Huballi station and the reconstruction of the Dharwad station was noted. He added that SWR is also expected to develop new goods sheds for Bijapur,l Bagalkot and Khajjidoni.
