Airmen Training School Belagavi celebrated the 50th anniversary of the victory of the Indian Armed Forces in the 1971 war. Air Vice Marshal Mohan Dikshit (Retd) Vir Chakra graced the occasion as the Guest of Honour.
The veteran Air Marshal is one of the Vir Chakra awardees of the 1971 war, a Fighter Pilot, who displayed gallantry, professional skills and devotion to duty of high order. Many veterans, Army Officers and other civilian dignitaries also joined the celebrations.
Air Cmde SD Mukul, Air Officer Commanding, Airmen Training School Belagavi received the Victory Flame which was lit by our Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi at the National War Memorial, New Delhi on 16 Dec 2020. The celebration included cultural programmes, telecasting of patriotic film and Band performance by the Maratha Light Infantry Regimental Centre Band.
Remembering the heroic deeds of our brave soldiers who brought us victory in the 1971 war, the commemoration ceremony felicitated war veteran Air Vice Marshal Mohan Dikshit, Vir Chakra and other veterans present on the occasion.

Air Commodore SD Mukul addressed the gathering and thanked all the veterans for their immense contribution to the nation.
