
The Belagavi district administration have warned shopkeepers who are selling essential products at prices higher than the prescribed MRP.
As the lockdown has been imposed from May 10th to May 24th to control the Covid-19 2nd wave, the District administration has noticed that merchants are deliberately selling high prices for essential commodities.
Action will be taken on sellers who are charging more than the MRP, said the administration.
Deputy Commissioner MG Hiremath has warned, If its found that wholesalers, grocers and traders are selling at a higher rate they will be Criminalized under the provisions of the Essential Commodities Act, 1955 and the Essential Commodity, Inventory and Rate Management Act 1981, and the Natural Disaster Management Act 2005.
