The Belagavi Smart City ltd planted saplings in the medians of the City roads few months back have already started to dry up.

Residents claim that freshly planted patches were neglected and not watered even as the temperature was higher during these days.

The saplings planted 2-3 months ago between Rani Chennamma Circle to Ayodhya Nagar Junction and Ayodhya Nagar Junction to Shri Krishna Devaraya circle by the Belagavi Smart City ltd which have already started to wither with no watering by the authorities.

The contractor waters the fresh saplings but not for the one planted earlier. As a result lot of saplings started to dry up due to negligence. Some have dried completely in the stretch. The environmental activists have expressed their concerns on the drying up of the recently planted saplings.

According to the policy, the agency appointed for the Plantation is responsible for the maintenance of the trees for a period of Two/Five years. But the contractor failed to maintain even for 2 months.
