
Rashtriya Military School, Belgaum is an all boys residential school affiliated with the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE), New Delhi. Founded in 1945 as King George the VI Royal Indian Military College. It is one of the prestigious institutions of the nation and the school is one among the five Rashtriya Military schools in India.
Initially admissions to the school were restricted to the sons of JCOs and ORs of the Army and their equivalent ranks in the Navy and Air Force and the boys were prepared for the Army Special Certificate of Education Examination.
The school was later renamed King George’s Military College and was re-organized along the lines of residential public schools opening admissions to the sons of service officers as well as civilians. The school switched over to the Senior Cambridge Certificate Examination and the condition that all boys should join the Defence services was also dropped. The school was simultaneously renamed King George’s School.
In 1963, the school obtained affiliation from CBSE and on January 1, 1966, the school was renamed Belgaum Military School, Belagavi. In January 1998 the prefix ‘Belgaum’ was dropped and the School was re-designated Military School, Belgaum.

Like other military schools, Rashtriya Military School, Belgaum is a Cat ‘A’ Establishment under the direct control of DGMT (MT-15). All instructions pertaining to finance, training, admission and recruitment are received from AHQ (MT-15). Alumni of the five Military Schools are known as Georgians after their founder father.

Affiliated with CBSE, the school offers education from class VI to XII. The primary aim of the school is to prepare students for the All India Senior School Certificate Examination (AISSCE) of the CBSE Board conducted at the end of class XII. The school also prepares boys who wish to join the Indian Armed Forces for the entrance examination of the National Defence Academy.

Admission :
Boys between the age of 10 to 12 years are eligible for admission to the school from class VI onwards.

The Common Entrance Test (CET) for admission to class VI is normally held in mid-December. The exam is automated OMR based in subjects of intelligence, general knowledge, mathematics and English of class V level. Candidates who clear the CET and figure in the merit list are required to appear for interview at respective Rashtriya Military Schools. Final merit list is prepared after the interview.

Prospectus and application forms can be obtained from any of the Rashtriya Military Schools by paying Rs 350/-(Rs 175/- in case of SC/ST, copy of the Caste certificate to be submitted). Applicants should forward self-addressed envelope of 31 cm x 25 cm dimension affixed with Rs 60 stamp for prospectus and application form along with Demand Draft for the amount payable at respective Rashtriya Military School ( in favour of “ Principal , Rashtriya Military School”).
Last date for submission of the filled in application normally falls in the last week of September.
