In a bid to generate additional revenue from non-operating sources, the South Western Railways setting up a new rail-themed restaurant in Belagavi railway station to serve multi-cuisine delicacies to the people here.
The restaurants is set to be air conditioned, and all passengers traveling through the the station can start availing services in the restaurants as soon as September this year. The restaurants is being set up near the old entrance of the station and is expected to serve both vegetarian and non-vegetarian meals.
Old and to-be scrapped railway coach is being modified and refurbished into restaurant with adequate seating facilities to give passengers a new dining experience. The restaurant is expected to serve both north and south Indian delicacies and likely to have a seating capacity of 50 inside the coach, with a few more outside it. Breakfast, lunch, snacks and dinner will be made available at this restaurant.
The Rail Coach restaurant is currently being prepared at Belagavi Railway station under the management of Magnum Foods Belagavi. .
