In order to make up for precious lost to the pro- tracted hiatus in activity ow- ing to the pandemic this year, the Belagavi Smart City Ltd (BSCL) has undertaken work on several projects simultaneously, much to the chagrin of the public. The people are particularly upset with the disruption in vehicular movement that ongoing work on several arterial roads of the city has resulted in.
Traffic from the Chennamma Circle, for instance, is being diverted via the deputy commissioner’s officer and Civil Hospital Road. The circuitous routes that motorists have to travel along every day has left them a frustrated lot. It is not just the thorough fares in the city that work on BSLC projects is gathering pace.
Krishna Giriyannavar, an activist, told TOI, “BSCL is not accelerating the work. We can suffer the inconvenience for some time, but the time taken to complete the projects is too long. Parking has become a major problem in the city, while work on UGD in residen tialareas is making it tough for people to take their cars out.”
BSCL MD Shashidhar K said that he was occupied in a meeting, and expressed his inability to comment.
