Deputy commissioner Nitesh Patil on Wednesday held the quarterly district level SC/ST atrocity committee meeting in DC office.
Speaking at the meeting, he said that there is no provision to install an idol of the Buddha in the middle of Fort Lake in Belagavi, which had been planned earlier.
“According to a Supreme Court order passed in 2018, no construction work of installation of statues can be done within 30 meters surrounding any public lake,” he said.
As a part of beautification of Lake, it was proposed to install Budhha Statue in the centre of the island of the lake and attract tourists.
