The NIRF Ranking 2021 was released on Thursday (Sep 09) by Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan and it ranks most of India’s vast number of higher education institutes numbering to over 45,000 degree colleges, 1000 universities and 1500 top institutes.
The rankings were announced under Ten categories – Overall, Universities, Engineering, Colleges, Management, Pharmacy, Dental, Medical, Architecture, and Law
The Ranking list includes few colleges of Belagavi. The list is here, with rank number and Score and state level position too :
University Catagory :

Visvesvaraya Technological University (VTU) Ranked No. 82 in the ‘University’ category with a score of 40.37. another University that has ranked in’ University’ catagory is KLE Academy of Higher education and research (KAHER) – Rank no. 91 and score is 39.44
Engineering Catagory :
In ‘Engineering’ Catagory, Visvesvaraya Technological University (VTU) ranked no. 57 with score of 45.63, which is third rank in Karnataka.
Medical Catagory :
In ‘Medical Catagory’, Jawaharlal Nehru medical college (JNMC) ranked no. 47 with score of 46.04 which is Eighth rank in Karnataka.
Dental Catagory :
In ‘Dental Catagory’, KLE Vishwanath Katti Institute Of Dental Sciences (VKIDS) ranked no. 33 with score of 51.61 which is Eleventh position in Karnataka.
Pharmacy Catagory :
In ‘Pharmacy Catagory’, KLE College of Pharmacy, ranked no. 40 with score of 46.26 which is third position in Karnataka.
About NITF : The National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF) was approved by the MHRD and launched by Honourable Minister of Human Resource Development on 29th September 2015.
This framework outlines a methodology to rank institutions across the country. The methodology draws from the overall recommendations broad understanding arrived at by a Core Committee set up by MHRD, to identify the broad parameters for ranking various universities and institutions. The parameters broadly cover “Teaching, Learning and Resources,” “Research and Professional Practices,” “Graduation Outcomes,” “Outreach and Inclusivity,” and “Perception”.
India Rankings – 2016 based on this framework were released on 4th April 2016.
For India Rankings – 2017, the main ranking parameters remain the same. However, there are a few significant changes in a few sub-parameters. Also, this year every large institution will be given a common overall rank as well as a discipline specific rank as applicable.
