The central government has released Rs.10 Cr to construct roads to connect villages on the stretch of Khanapur-Anmod NH4A which was halted causing inconvenience for the motorists and villagers said Sanjay Patil, Former Bjp Mla
He said, The Four-Laning Belagavi-Panaji (150km) highway road work taken-up by the central government in 2019 for the promotion of trade and tourism between Goa and Karnataka. Due to stay order filed by environmentalists, the work was halted causing inconvenience for the villagers of Khanapur taluk and motorists. High court on Tuesday withdrawn stay order which helps to resume work again.
Several pleas by activists, residents and a few elected representatives for the completion of road work has been finally considered by centre by releasing the funds to resume work.
Khanapur Congress MLA Anjali Nimbalkar had written letter to Union Minister Nitin Gadkari requesting to take up the work on priority.
Currently the work on 25-km stretch of NH4A between Khanapur and Belagavi is almost complete.
