The South Western Railway planned to lay bypass track near Belagavi, a bypass line will ease train traffic.
The purpose of the bypass railway line is to prevent goods trains from entering the city. Once it is done, goods trains will skip entering Belagavi railway station and move on a 15-20km bypass track.
With growing demand and increase in the number of passengers, more express trains are expected to be introduced that originate from or pass through Belagavi. To ease congestion at Belagavi station, a new bypass line is being proposed.
As per sources, the new line is expected between Desur and Sambre. This work requires land acquisition aswell.
Bypass rail line will facilitate diversion of all goods trains from Desur to Sambre and Belagavi station will be able to handle a good number of passenger trains as per their schedule without unnecessary delays. This will also increase punctuality.
