The Belagavi city is all set to have its first multi level car parking under Public Private Partnership (PPP) as the Belagavi Smart City limited has awarded the contract to Bengaluru based company.
Bhoomi Pooja for the construction of Multi level car parking at Bapat Galli was performed by Belagavi North Mla Asif (Raju) sait and Belagavi City Corporation Commissioner Ashok Dudagunti on Monday (11 Sep.).

Name of The Contractor: M/S BVG India Limited Banglore.
Project Construction Cost: 6.65 Cr.
Project Duration: 24 Months.
Site Area: 12 Gunthas.
Project Details: G+5 Storey Building Construction Ground Floor and First Floor Includes Commercial Shops and rest 4 Floor are Consisting Car Parking area.
Cars at per Floor: 30 Nos. Total Cars : 120 Nos

The city with over 8.5 lakh population has more vehicles on road as traffic congestion has become a perennial issue. Due to poor planning, roads could not be widened or parking lots for two-wheelers and four-wheelers could be allotted on city roads. Most of the authorised parking lots for two-wheelers were occupied by shop keepers as customers and the public were forced to park on roads. The situation is worse in areas where commercial establishments have come up as no parking lot for cars were available. Customers park their cars on road causing frequent traffic congestion and also being fined by traffic police for unauthorised parking. However with the construction of Multi Level Car Parking, some percentage of parking issue in this part will be solved.
