Ms. Ranjana Jha interacts with trade bodies in Belagavi

Ms. Ranjana Jha, Principal Chief Commissioner, Central Tax, Bengaluru Zone, Bengaluru, addressed the members of the Belgaum Chambers of Commerce, Chartered Accountants Association Tax Practitioners Association and Institute of Company Secretaries India at Dr.V.D.Patil Hall, JNMC, Belagavi. She noted that the gross GST revenue collected in the month of November 2021 was Rs.1.31 Lakh Crore and she commended the trade and industry for their contribution to the nation building.

The trade bodies raised various issues including issues relating to GSTN portal, Sec 16(2) of GST Act, issue Standard Operating Procedure for e-Way Bill verification on roads, need for reducing GST rate on gold jewelry to increase compliance and regarding notices issued due to difference between GSTR2A and GSTR3B. The Principal Chief Commissioner replied to all the queries of the trade and industry and promised to look into all the grievances in detail. The Principal Chief Commissioner highlighted the recent changes brought about in GST law and administration and explained how the they were beneficial to the taxpayers. She also discussed the key decisions taken in the 45th GST council meeting held in September 2021.

Earlier in the day, Ms Ranjana Jha performed ground breaking ceremony for the swachhata project of CGST department at School of the Belgaum District Association for Blind at Nehrunagar, Belagavi. The project involves cleaning the entire sports area, preparation of Cricket ground for Visually Challenges Children, laying a running track, digging rainwater harvesting drains and pits and setting up safe drinking water provisions under the Swacchata Project of Central GST. She enthused keenness to replicate this model throughout Karnataka. President Shri Chandrashekhar Bembalgi, and other members of the Management of the Association attended the function at the School premises along with Belagavi CGST Commissioner Shri.Baswaraj Nalagave and other senior officers of CGST, Belagavi. Ms Jha Ranjana had a long interaction with the students of the school.

A 1987 batch of IRS officer, holding post graduation degrees in Law, Arts and Philosophy, Smt Ranjana Jha, recently assumed charge as Principal Chief Commissioner, Central Tax, Bengaluru Zone, Bengaluru, during September, 2021. She has donned many a role as Tax officer in tax administration of Customs Central Excise, Service Tax and now GST. She had earlier served as DG Safeguards, New Delhi and as Director in Department of Food and Public Distribution gaining diverse experience.

In a hectic two-day visit to Belagavi as a part of her mission to interact with trade bodies and visit field formations, Ms Ranjana Jha, undertook an official visit to the CGST Executive, Audit and Appeals Commissionerates at Belagavi.
