Rajya Sabha MP Iranna Kadadi on Tuesday demanded train service from Belagavi to Hyderabad and Mumbai in the parliament session.
Raising the issue through a special mention, he said, ‘Belagavi is historically, industrially and culturally important district and thousands of commuters travel to Mumbai and Hyderabad every day for educational, tourism, business and industrial purposes. Currently, people travel by roads which takes much time.’
He added that, Presently there is no direct train from Belagavi to Mumbai, Hyderabad cities and people have to pay double or triple the fare to travel by bus during festivals. For the last several years, there is a demand from the public that daily railway service should be started between these cities.
‘I request the government through you that the Ministry of Railways should immediately consider this and start rail service to connect Belagavi to important cities like Mumbai, Hyderabad, which also helps to increase revenue for railways’ he said.
