GC Member Lalit Kala Akademi & Member of Karnataka Animal Welfare Board Dr. Sonali Sarnobat proposed Regional center of Latit Kala Academy in Belagavi.
Minimum two acres of land in Belagavi for state of the art Regional center of Lalit Kala Akademi (LKA) is required. At present Regional Centers are only present in Delhi, Mumbai, Chennai, Bhubaneswar, Lucknow, Kolkata and Shimla. It is proposed in Belagavi as it is being a hub of Culture, Art & Literature as well as proposed Second Capital of Karnataka. Lalit Kala Akademi Chairman has also assured full Cooperation in this regard.

It will have an art gallery and certain block that encourages to study and research in visual arts. This will be the biggest in south India in case of regional arts centre. It must have a beautiful lounge in its premises”

“I have met Shri C.T. Ravi, Tourism minister who had responded positively and asked Belagavi district commissioner to review and sanction minimum 2 Acres of land to set up Lalit kala Academy in Belagavi. And have mailed to Shri Suresh Angadi Ji, MOS Railways and Central cabinet minister Shri Prahlad Joshi ji regarding same. Now it is up to the state government to Approve, expedite the process, grant the land and sanction funds so that the institution takes shape at the earliest”

Regional Center : Demo plans show the drawings of an art gallery with all necessary ground floor space details and site rendering details with the minimum necessary parking areas. It also shows in detail the front and side elevations of the art gallery with the sensible façade treatment. The first
image also illustrates the site entry, the site circulation, the outdoor sculpture garden as well as the central interior courtyard and the outdoor canteen and its seating area. The images that follow the site plan of the building are the floor plans of the buildings from the ground to the third floor in chronological order. The plans contain the furniture and the function details of the respective floors of the building including the toilet, exhibition space and the office layouts of the building as well.

The Center has the following facilities for artists:
• Graphic Workshop : 8 artists to work at a time
• Ceramic Workshop : 8 artists to work at a time
• Sculpture Workshop : 8 artists to work at a time
• Painting Studio : 10 – 12 artists to work at a time
• Reference Library : for working artists and scholars (between 11am to 3Pm)
• Art Galleries: Ground floor of Size Approx. 530 running ft. wall space / and first floor Group show gallery of Size 290 running ft. wall space

Activities :
Every year, the Centre will organize several activities for the promotion of art around the region by organizing art events like Lectures on Art, Art Film Shows, Artists-in-Residency programmes, Camps, Interactive Workshops, Demonstrations, Exhibitions and Seminars etc. Many of these programmes of the Center will be organized in collaboration with different art institutions and organizations.
> Develop an integrated physical environment in which various professions and institutions dealing with different facets of ART and ART related environmental issues would function, interact and attempt to resolve habitat related problems in a coordinated manner.
> Promote awareness in regard to ART related environmental issues including water, air, noise and waste pollution, energy and its conservation, water and human waste management and other such matters.
> Promote better urban and rural settlements relevant of the Indian social, cultural and economic context and related to the lifestyle of its people.
> Inculcate better awareness and sensitivity in regard to all aspects of creative human activity including the significance of art in habitat.
> Document all relevant information pertaining to habitat, human settlements and environmental issues.
> Advise and if needed, assist the Government in the formation and implementation of policies relating to habitat, and human settlements.
> Promote education, research, training and professional development on habitat and human settlement and environment related issues.
> Organise and promote conferences, seminars, lectures, public debates and exhibitions in matters relating to habitat, human settlements and environment.
> Offer awards, prizes scholarships and stipends in furtherance of the objectives of the Centre.
> Cooperate and collaborate with other national and international institutions in furtherance of the objectives of the Centre.
> Acquire, hold, improve and develop lands and construct buildings and related facilities on behalf of members of the Centre.
> Organize and maintain residential hostels, restaurants and other amenities for its members, their guests and non-members invited by the Center.
> Maintain and keep in good repair all buildings and common services.
> Constitute or cause to be constituted Regional Centers at convenient places to promote the objectives of the Center.
> To do such all other lawful activities as the Center considers conducive to the attainment of all or any of the above objectives.
Permanent Collection :
• Collection : Includes stone, metal, wood and bronze sculptures, Paintings, Graphics and Ceramics; also mixed media works.
Library :
> Around 2000 books, Art Journals, and Reference Books for reading
purposes. Official Timings (9:30am – 6:00pm)
> It will be the intellectual hub of the lalitkala regional centre to provide a serene heven for those interested in pursuit of knowledge, in finding a quiet corner for their research and writing or even just catching up on the happenings of the day and the goings-on in the world through newspapers and Internet.
> It will be a place to read, surf, research, learn and write. It is state-of-the-art and offers a range of computers for the use of members. LRC (lalitkala regional center) will be Wi-Fi enabled and personal laptops may be used.
> Along with the Lending, Reference and Periodicals Sections, the niche collections – collating the different dimensions of India, bringing together available material on visual art and design, the Institutions Section set up to showcase the work of the Institution Members of LRC, the Translations and Award-Winning Authors Sections –add value to the collection of information resources in the LRC.

studio facilities for artists, Interactive Lectures, Demonstrations, Artist-in-Residency, and other Programmes from time to time.
