The Karnataka Urban Infrastructure Development & Finance Corporation (KUIDFC) Dahod police has asked citizens of Belagavi city to use water judiciously in wake of the lesser supply of water to the city from the Hidkal and Rakaskoppa reservoir.
The crisis is because the Rakaskoppa and Hidkal reservoirs have almost dried up which are the primary sources of water for Belagavi city.
The circular issued by the Karnataka Urban Infrastructure Development & Finance Corporation (KUIDFC) says “Drinking water is being supplied to Belagavi city from Hidkal and Rakkasakoppa Reservoirs, when compared to last year, the water level in Rakkasakoppa Reservoir is decreasing significantly due to lack of rain. The public should immediately reduce the amount of water used daily, not use pumpsets and use boiled water that has cooled down for drinking. If there is no rain in the coming days, water supply issue to Belagavi city may become more serious than the current days.
