
Jawaharlal Nehru Medical College has initiated an Advanced Simulation Centre and Clinical Skills Lab, under the aegis of KLE Academy of Higher Education and Research (KAHER), Belagavi, a state-of-the-art multi-professional training facility equipped with the most advanced Hi-Tech, Hi-fidelity simulators and skills trainers.
Union Home Minister Amit Shah will inaugurate the centre on January 17 in presence of Karnataka Chief Minister B S Yediyurappa.
The centre will impart a competency-based simulation education to medical professionals through risk-free learning promoting patient safety.
“Medical students and trainees will get trained on simulated models and mannequins to acquire patient care skills like resuscitation of seriously ill patients, emergency care, conducting deliveries even in complicated situations, performing surgeries, procedures like catheterization, venipuncture, tracheostomy, intubation,” KLES Chairman and KAHE Chancellor Dr Kore said.

“They will acquire sufficient expertise to safely perform practically on patients. This will not only help in teaching and training of UG & PG Medical students but also help practising doctors to hone their skills,” Dr Kore added.

A unique centre of its kind in the region, it will house the most advanced medical simulators and skill trainers providing learners with opportunities to learn in a safe and controlled environment.
Spread across 8000 sq feet, the Centre has been segregated into ICU, OT and OPD like setup with provision of future expansion.
A committee comprising Dr Prabhakar Kore, Vice Chancellor Dr Vivek Saoji, will be monitoring the centre.
