There is a long pending demand for an International Airport between Belagavi and Dharwad from business leaders, few people’s representatives, and People of North Karnataka will be fulfilled if State government provides the land – Says Union Minister Pralhad Joshi.
During the TiE-Hubli Infra Meet, Aequs Private Limited chairman and CEO Arvind Melligeri enquired 3 question’s on infra projects — an international airport between Hubballi and Belagavi, opening up the HAL airport for home air providers, and high-speed rain between Belagavi and Bengaluru.
Answering to the questions, Pralhad Joshi, who is currently Union Minister of Coal and Mines said that there is demand for an international airport between Belagavi and Dharwad, Centre will take steps if Karnataka Government provides the land.
The new facility will also be used for upkeep, restore, and overhaul (MRO) of planes in addition to parking house for international flights touchdown at Bengaluru and Mumbai, as they’ve house constraints, he added.

Industries Minister Murugesh Nirani assuring the necessary support from the state, said the proposed airport would come up at Kittur and will be named after Rani Chennamma.

If representatives of this region lobby to sanction an International airport in this region, that would help many Passengers to board directly from here.
