Member of Parliament, Defense Advisory Committee Member Annasahabe Jolle and along with Minister of Muzurai, Haj & Wakf, Government of Karnataka Shashikala Jolle on Wednesday met Union Defence Minister Rajnath Singh and submitted proposal to set up Aircraft museum in Belagavi.
Raksha Mantri Rajnath Singh had a visit to Bengaluru, inaugurated the three-day conclave organised by the Indian Air Force to commemorate ‘Swarnim Vijay Varsh’ at Yelahanka Air Force Station in Bengaluru on Friday.
In a request letter, it is mentioned that ‘Belagavi has the Maratha Light Regimental Centre of the Indian Army and 405 Air Force Station. Setting up of the Aircraft Museum helps attract a lot of tourists’
‘In addition, it motivates young people to join the defense services. It is learned that some IL-38s aircrafts operations have been shut down and are currently housed in the INS-HANSA in Dabolim, Goa. Keeping this in mind, the same aircrafts can be brought to Belagavi and set up as an aircraft museum. Annasaheb Jolle and Shashikala Jolle urged minister and submitted the proposal. Responding to the request, Rajnath Singh asked officials to look into the matter.
