Poor condition of North Western Karnataka Road Transport Corporation (NWKRTC)’s inter-district ‘PREMIUM’ buses causing inconvenience for the passengers.
Buses are not cleaned, broken handrest, foot rest, windshields and windows are common scenes on so called premium buses of NWKRTC on Belagavi-Dharwad-Hubballi routes.
NWKRTC operates premium buses such as Airavat Club class, Airavat Gold Class and Rajahamsa between Belagavi-Dharwad-Hubballi non-stop. Most of these buses are in very bad condition which is not only causing inconvenience for the passengers but also creating a bad impression among the visitors to Belagavi and Hubballi-Dharwad cities.
Most of the travellers repeatedly complained regarding the poor condition of buses, however the NWKRTC’s services are yet to improve. And as per company’s statement, purchase of new buses has got delayed due to financial reasons.

A Twitter post by Belagavi infra highlighting a damaged, patchy and unconditioned bus has created good impact. Soon after the picture was shared, netizens expressed anger over the bad condition of buses and NWKRTC official twitter handle responded to the complaint, forwarded to the concerned division to examine and necessary action. Now officials have clarified that the bus was sent to Belagavi DWS for re-conditioning.
‘The said bus vehicle number KA42 F 1077 was sent to Divisional Workshop in Belagavi for vehicle re-conditioning including changing the seat cover, body painting and repairing all other parts of the bus’ – Depot manager, Belagavi depot-1.
NWKRTC has recently purchased nearly 50 old city buses from Bengaluru Metropolitan Transport Corporation (BMTC) each for Rs.1 lakh and sent to Belagavi depots which are now facing issues such as Bus break down, breakage of footboard, unbearable noise etc.
