MLA of Belagavi Rural Laxmi Hebbalkar strongly opposed the ring road construction in her constituency.
Speaking to media persons, MLA Laxmi Hebbalkar said that the Ring Road has been proposed to pass through 25 villages in Belagavi Rural Constituency. Farmers of these villages are in fear that this project may rob them of their livelihood,
‘The land acquisition will lead to the loss of livelihood for many families in these villages as their main source of income is agriculture.’
She said, Farmers from my constituency has given land to Airport expansion, VTU University, STP Plant, Suvarna Vidhana Soudha but didn’t recieve any compensation amount so far.

‘The government had also promised jobs to the affected families, till date, government officials have not taken any steps to ensure that.’
She said, ‘I wont let this ring road happen in Belagavi, until government announce compensation amount to the farmers which should be 8 times the market value and jobs to the family members of those farmers whose land has been acquired.’
