Belagavi is the 2nd city in Karnataka and the 4th outside Bengaluru to go live. a ‘relief riders’ which works closely with people finding it difficult to get medicines and other essentials during the second wave of the coronavirus pandemic. The relief rider service has been launched today.
As the State is under 14 days lockdown to break the virus chain, the Collaboration of GoGreen Belagavi, Belgaum Peddlers club and Individual cyclists along with Urban Morph, has come up with the noble idea of distributing medicines and other necessities to citizens especially the elderly and other vulnerable persons in the City. The help riders of the cycling club will send the goods to people’s doorsteps after they get a phone call.

“Relief Riders initiative has been initially started by Satya Sankaran bycycle mayor of Bengaluru in the last year COVID wave. Now same initiative has been started by couple of cities like Hubbali, Mumbai, Hyderabad. We Belagavi cyclists also planned the same and started this initiative from today onwards. We have around 20 volunteers, two numbers have been share on the social media to reach out and We Relief Riders Belagavi Deliver essentials and Medicines for the Vulnerable and Elderly” Said Ramu Hanagandi, Member of Belgaum Peddlers Club.
To avail the service, the elderly or vulnerable can call the given contact numbers and the volunteers will be sent to their houses between 6 am and 10 am. If any emergency ( like any medines requirement) beyond this timings will try to help out, If local police allowed to do. Once they get the delivery, they can pay the cost of the medicine to the volunteers. Said Ramu
