The government has approved the establishment of the Ayush medicine Manufacturing Unit in the premises of vaccine depot in the Belagavi southern constituency.
This is one of the most significant contributions to North Karnataka. The vaccine depot area has 456 different kinds of herbs and it is necessary to establish Ayush drug manufacturing center here. An estimated amount of ₹ 13.55 crore was proposed for the phase-out expansion project. As a first step, the government has sanctioned a grant of ₹ 10 crore.
This is the first government-run unit in the country. It is intended to be exported to all AYUSH health centers in the state as well as abroad. “I had pressured the Chief Minister and the Health Minister to set up the Center at the Vaccine Depot in Belgaum without shifting the center for any reason. It has been credited. The unit is being set up in collaboration with the state and central government. The model is intended to be a model in the country” said Abhay Patil, MLA, Belagavi South
