Karnataka government on Monday released a fresh list of district in-charge ministers and COVID in-charge ministers for their respective districts.
Govind Karjol, who is the current Minister of Major and Medium Irrigation, water Resources of Karnataka who was in charge of Belagavi district earlier, has been appointed once again as the In-charge Minister for Belagavi district now.
For the first time after the Bommai government came to power that each district has got a minister in charge. Earlier, ministers were assigned districts only for Covid-19 management and flag hoisting at the headquarters on Independence Day.
While no district has been assigned to at least two senior ministers – Revenue Minister R Ashoka and Law and Parliamentary Affairs Minister JC Madhuswamy; Three ministers- BC Patil, K Gopalaiah and Shankar B Patil Munenkoppa have been allotted two districts each.
Interestingly, B Sriramulu, who represents the Molakalmuru assembly constituency in Chitradurga, has got Ballari as his home district; While CN Ashwath Narayan continues as Ramanagara district in-charge, where he seems to be at war with the Congress’s “DK brothers” (KPCC chief DK Shivakumar and Bangalore Rural MP DK Suresh), the ministers and districts allotted to them are- Govind Karjol (Belagavi), KS Eshwarappa (Chikkamagaluru), V Somanna (Chamarajanagar), Umesh Katti (Vijayapura), S Angara (Udupi), Araga Gyanendra (Tumakuru), CC Patil (Bagalkot), Anand Singh (Koppal), Kota Srinivasa Pujari ( Uttara Kannada), Prabhu Chauhan (Yadgir), Murugesh Nirani (Kalaburagi).
Apart from this, Shivaram Hebbar (Haveri), ST Somashekar (Mysore), BC Patil (Chitradurga and Gadag), BA Basavaraj (Davangere), K Sudhakar (Bengaluru Rural), K Gopalaiah (Hasan and Mandya), Shashikala Jole (Vijayanagar), MTB Nagaraj (Chikkaballapura), KC Narayana Gowda (Sivamogga), BC Nagesh (Kodagu), Sunil Kumar (Dakshina Kannada), Halappa Achar (Dharwad), Shankar B Patil Munenkoppa (Raichur and Bidar), and Munirathna (Kolar). According to party sources, despite the demand of several ministers to be made in-charge of their home districts, the Chief Minister has decided against it while making the appointments.
