The Suvarna Soudha in Belagavi, which is a replica of Bengaluru’s Vidhana Soudha, was built in 2012 in an attempt to bring the administration closer to North Karnataka, amid concerns that the region felt
alienated.
For the second successive year also, Govt failed to hold the winter session of the legislature in Belagavi. The Covid-19 pandemic in 2020 has kept the government away from holding the monsoon session, with same reason winter session was held in Bengaluru’s Vidhana Soudha. In 2019, the winter session in Belagavi was called off after the district administration expressed its inability to play host due to flood.
However Government of Karnataka has now decided to hold Monsoon Session in Belagavi’s Suvarna Vidhana Soudha. Government of Karnataka has reserved Rs.20 Crores to run upcoming session in Belagavi.
