The people of North Karnataka had a big dream when the Suvarna Vidhana sudha (SVS) was built in Belagavi at the cost of 500 Cr. There was a belief that SVS would become the power Centre of North Karnataka to fulfill many of their demands. But the Suvarna Vidhana Soudha of Belagavi has now become white elephant. There is no relocation of any state-level offices here. Even the 10-day winter session of the year is not happening since 2 years.
There is a demand for the relocation of offices to facilitate the Suvarna Vidhana soudha to the people of north Karnataka. There have also been many struggles against this backdrop. Leader of the Opposition BS Yeddyurappa had promised to meet the demand shortly after coming to power. However, no decision has been made even after a year of coming to power. Instead, they are trying to make Suvarna vidhana soudha a mini vidhana soudha.

District level offices : Belagavi district administration has shifted the district level 23 offices to the Suvarna Vidhana Soudha in October month this year. That has created lot of trouble for the citizens of Belagavi as they should travel to 14 Km for their works.
Elected representatives of the district have been silent about the relocation of the state level office. This has led to the outrage of the people of the district. There are one DCM, three ministers, and 10 MLA’s in the district, none of them have raised voice for the same.
