The first Digital library in Belagavi under Smart City project is now ready and to be inaugurated by CM Basavaraj Bommai on Sunday (Sep 26)
The setting up of digital libraries under Smart city is a first step to a transition from the libraries. With a generational shift from paperback to digital platforms, the local libraries will also follow suit.

The library has been named after Ravindra Kaushik – Ravindra was a Research and Analysis Wing operative. Famously known as Black Tiger, he is regarded as India’s best spy to ever penetrate the commissioned officer ranks of the Pakistan armed forces. Kaushik spied for R&AW against Pakistan from 1979 to 1983.
This Digital Library was Built at a cost of Rs 2.5 crore, the digital library of five languages including Kannada, English, Hindi, Marathi and Urdu.

The Ravindra Kaushik Library has two staff and a total of 23 desktop computers, with 5 suitable tablets for children to use. Next, the number of tablets will be increased as per the Demand..
There are over 5000 books available in the library, and an unlimited number of users can download a book on their mobile or computer. The books available in the library can be viewed through the Smart City E-library Application and can be subscribed for Rs 50-60 at one time.
There are also books that can be used for competitive exams, as well as small children’s books that are reused by artificial intelligence. Srinivas K., Managing Director of the Library informed that there are books available for all people.

WiFi Facility: Books can be read using WiFi within 300 meters of the library, and the WiFi utility can only be used to read and download books. Srinivas K, managing director of the library, informed that the library is 3 storeyed and can accommodate 60 readers at a time.
