In 2017, Economic corridor between Hyderabad and Panjim, that passes through the outskirts of Belagavi city, announced by Union minister of road transport and highways Nitin Gadkari, among the people in the region.

The central government has planned a Ring road connecting Hyderabad and Panjim cities, which will go through Mehabubnagar, Deosugur, Bagalkot and Belagavi. It’s a part of the central government’s ambitious project, ‘Bharatmala Pariyojana,’ that focuses on optimizing efficiency of traffic movement across the country, under the umbrella of the highway development project.
The corridor helps in boosting economic activities of the district, and generating new employment opportunities.
Former Mp, Suresh Angadi had earlier informed that the ring road does not pass through Belagavi city. He said it gives the option to allow heavy vehicles coming from Goa, to pass through the national highway via Hirebagewadi, instead of entering the city, and adding to traffic congestion.
Angadi had also mentioned that this proposed ring road has nothing to do with the ring road planned for the city by the Belagavi Urban Development Authority (BUDA). “‘Bharatmala Pariyojana’ is a different concept to improve the efficiency of highways,” he said.
