The Railways have started the electrification work at Belagavi Railway Station. The work kicked off on Thursday with the setting up of an electric mast at Belagavi Railway Station.
In South Western Railway, electrification work, being taken up jointly by Rail Vikas Nigam Ltd. (RVNL) and Central Organization for Railway Electrification (CORE), is in full swing.
The first stretch that’s electrified in Londa-Belagavi-Miraj section : Authorization of Commissioner of Railway Safety, Southern Circle received for Railway Electrification between Ghataprabha & Kudachi (49 Route Km). This is the first stretch that’s electrified in Londa-Belagavi-Miraj section of Hubballi Division of South Western Railway.
CRS Inspection & Loco Trail was conducted on 28th March for Kudachi-Ghataprabha section of Miraj-Londa Electrification project, AJJ WAP4 22559 locomotive was in lead. Speed trail with this electric locomotive was successfully completed at a maximum speed of 110 kmph.

Indian Railways electrification plan sees big progress! As of 28 March 2022, the South Western Railway zone has achieved 511.7 Route Kilometres of electrification across its network. This has surpassed the target set by the Railway Board of 459 Route kilometres for the financial year 2021-22. The following rail sections over the South Western Railway zone have been commissioned after electrification: Yelahanka – Chikkaballapur (45 Route kilometres), Sivadi – Omluru (44 Route kilometres), Tumakuru – Nitturu (27 Route kilometres), Kudachi – Ghataprabha (47 Route kilometres), Gadag – Hole Alur (48 Route kilometres), Hosadurga – Chikjajur (30 Route kilometres), Alnavar – Ambewadi (26 Route kilometres) and Londa – Tinaighat (11 Route kilometres).
