The Revision work of Comprehensive Development Plan (CDP) for Belagavi was awarded to the private company in the year-2020, intended to serve as a blueprint to develop the City for next 15-20 years was terminated in March 2022.
The work order was given to the EGIS company on September 4, 2020 to make GIS ( Geographic Information System) based master plan for the Belagavi urban local body (ULB) under Atal Mission for Rejuvenation and Urban Transformation (AMRUT) scheme. The CDP was supposed to be in place by March 2022 but the company has failed to prepare a draft even after a year. In this backdrop, the government had issued a notice asking the reason for delay.
Upset over the delay, The Belagavi Urban Development Authority (BUDA) has written letter to the state government to immediately cancel the contract of this private firm and re-call the tender.
The delay in formulation of the CDP is expected to affect the improvement of civic infrastructure in the city. The revised CDP is being done to meet the infrastructural needs following the expansion of the Corporation area. The government has already issued a final notice to the company to reply within a week, Buda officials said.
