Chief minister BS Yediyurappa is likely to announce a special grant of Rs 25 crore for each assembly constituency in the upcoming budget.
These funds will be set aside only for improvement of roads, as several roads in the North Karnataka region have been badly damaged in last year’s rains and floods. Sections of MLAs had made a mention of this to the chief minister.
Deputy chief minister Govind Karjol revealed about the special grant at a media conference on Tuesday, after the conclusion of a meeting the chief minister held with MLAs, to hear out their grievances and understand their priorities ahead of the budget. The chief minister met MLAs region-wise during which many of them poured their grievances as well as frustration out.
The chief minister has promised to make development of the state the centerpiece of the upcoming budget, Karjol said.
