Large scale preparations to launch tiger safari at Belagavi Zoo has reached final stage. The facility to be inaugurated in the month of March.
Facilities of tiger safari are currently available at Bannerghatta national park (Bengaluru ), Shivamogga (Thyavarekoppa), and Hampi (Atal Bihari Vajapayee Zoological Park) in Karnataka. Additionally Zoo’s of Karnataka is all set to launch Tiger Safari at Kittur Rani Chennamma zoo which is popularly known as Belagavi Zoo.
Belagavi Zoo – Kittur Rani Chennamma Nisargadhama, Belagavi, was established in the year 1989 at Bhutramanahatti. The Mini Zoo is situated 15 Kms away from Belagavi City on National Highway-4 in an area of 34 Hectares.
Three tigers have already been brought to the zoo here. Tiger Safari Main Gate installation is complete. Holding room also have been built. The CC Road work is in progress for a 1.5 km stretch of Safari and will be completed in 15 days. The CC road works are being carried out in Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee (Narega) project. Also, small lakes and nalas have been constructed. The Safari Gate and Holding Room are built in the District Mineral Funds.

Safari vehicle arrived : The tiger safari is set to launch at the Belagavi zoo in next 20 days and the safari vehicle has been deployed from the Hampi Zoo. Due to lack of grants, vehicle has been borrowed from other zoo.

Safari Charges : The tiger safari fees structure has not yet been finalized. Officials said that Central zoo authority would set the rate very soon.
Animals at Belagavi Zoo : Tiger, Lions, Leopards, Sloth bear, Sambar deer, Spotted deer, Emu, Jackal, tiger, Crocodile, Four horned antilope, Peacock, birds, Fish Aquarium zone.
