To ease the load on the existing hospitals and to control contagious diseases, The State government to set up 21 Urban Health and Wellness Centres (U-HWCs) called “Namma Clinic” in Belagavi District informed Health Minister K Sudhakar on Monday.
Namma Clinics to provide 12 major services including maternity and neonatal care. One doctor, a lab technician, one nurse and a group D employee will be appointed at these clinics, Sudhakar said.
These clinics will be operational by the end of October Month. These will come up near slum-like areas, Minister said.

The Administration approvals for the setting up of total 438 Urban Health and Wellness Centres was given by Karnataka Cabinet on July 1. Karnataka government to spend Rs 155 crore for the same.
