
When we talk about the buses in the city, they are mostly in dilapidated conditions and it’s not something people wish to travel in. However, that is about to change with the introduction of new model city buses.
It seems that the authorities have finally taken note of the public transport situation in Belagavi and we will finally have something that’s worth our money.
In a reply to a concern related to increase in the number of city buses in Belagavi, Nwkrtc official Twitter handle has confirmed us that Belagavi is getting new buses in the year 2021-22.
Nwkrtc said – At present, the Belagavi Depot-2 & Belagavi Depot-4 has a total fleet of 90 urban model buses that is, Tata BSII- 41 buses, Tata BSIII- 10 buses & LL BSIII- 39 buses. which are operating more than 9 lakh kms. The total estimated distance of these buses travelled is more than 9,79,041 Kms.

The government has already planned to be scrapped Tata BS-2 model buses in 2021-22. Also, in 2021-22, The new city transport buses will be delivered to Belagavi division. said the chief technical officer from North West road transport corporation head Office.

In 2017, Belagavi had got 50 Mini-Buses under JnNURM scheme, out of which 7 were old buses from Hubli Dharwad. At present all the city buses are in pathetic condition.
Belagavi Needs E-Buses :
In a major leap towards greener and cleaner public transport, Belagavi is in need of electric buses (E-Buses) plying on its roads. For a sustainable future and to implement the electric vehicles in public transport, there is demand to run electric buses in the city under electric mobility mission launched by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
