Belagavi Smart City Achieving good progress

Belagavi smart city tops in the state with largest number of projects undertaken that are currently in progress.

Belagavi Smart City – Belagavi was chosen in the first round of the ambitious Smart City project. Ministry of Urban Development had announced winners of first round of Smart city challenge competition on 28th Jan 2016.

Total of 100 Projects have been proposed in the smart city funds. half of them are road works – Major roads are getting facelift with white-topping as to address grievances about poor quality of roads in the city.

As of now, Most of the road works which are taken under smart city are about to complete. are white topped, Divider, New median lights, drainage works have been completed while footpath and cycle track works are still in progress.

Due to lack of Co-ordination between Officers of different departrments caused delay in Smart city works. Many of the works under the Smart City Project are yet to take off and those taken off are seeing a slow progress

Mandoli Road in Tilakwadi and KPTCL Road in Shivabasav Nagar were chosen initially. The plan was to develop them as model roads. While KPTCL Road is almost complete except Removing Old electric light poles, Mandoli Road has seen a slow progress.

Due to Covid19, All works that were taken under smart city were stopped completely. From September works have been resumed with good speed, aimed to finish all road works by this December last week

Total of Rs.909.41 Crore have been allotted for Belagavi based on works proposed in which Rs.396 crores have been released. and Rs.290.67 crores have been utlisised for various works of which Rs.66.48 crores worth projects already completed and achieved progress of 35.91% and has secured first position out of seven Smart cities in the state.
