The owners of many sweet shops across Belagavi said the sweets sale during Winter session was far higher than the usual – they created a new record with all-time high sales of their sweet brand ‘kunda’, popularly known as Belagavi kunda’.
As the ten-day legislature session in Belagavi culminated on Monday (13 December) and Ended on Friday (24 December), the lip smacking sweet prepared from milk and khowa recorded rough sales of about nearly 10,000 kgs.
According to the report, The sweet shop owners have roughly sold kunda worth over Rs. 15-20 lakh in just ten days, given that they charge around Rs 350-380 per kg. As per sweet shop owners during Sessions they witness highest sales than any festivals.
‘Normally Consumers from Karnataka, Maharashtra and Goa use to buy kunda of about 100-150kg a day. On the last day of the session, One thousand Kg ‘Kunda’ was sold and also 200 kg Karadantu, 100 kg Pedha were also sold.’ Said Atul Purohit sweetmart owner, College Road, told to Prajawani.

BEMUL product sales double: Kunda, which will be produced at Belagavi District Milk Union limited Union (Bemul), has an average of sale of 102 kg everyday. But during Belagavi session BEMUL has sold Kunda worth ₹ 8 lakh (186kg a day on average) in 10 days.

Karadantu recorded extraordinary sale : Kardant, another specialty of Belagavi (Gokak), made of jaggery, recorded extraordinary sales during the session. On a normal day, Karadantu sales of about 800 kg a day. Over the last three days of the session 1,700 kg was sold. The confectionaries did brisk business, ensuring that every visitor left the city with a packet of kunda or kardant.
