The City on Wednesday received 1,47,000 doses of Covid vaccine in 14,700 bottles at accine Institute (District Health Office) from Serum Institute, Pune.
District Health Officer Dr Shashikant Munyal, speaking to the media after receiving the consignment, said that the vaccine stock is meant for distribution in 8 districts of the Belagavi region. Each bottle contains ten dose units and will be administered twice, second dose after 28 days. After administering dose each person will be observed for three hours and will be discharged if no side effects were noticed.
In the first phase, only health workers will receive the doses. Belagavi currently needs 36,000 doses, he further said.
The vaccines were stored in cold storages and the Vaccine dose will be administered from Jan 16. The Vaccines received here were part of the first consignment allotted to Karnataka. Yesterday the State Capital Bengaluru had received first consignment of the Vaccine.
