Belagavi Lok Sabha MP Smt. Mangal Suresh Angadi and Chikkodi Lok Sabha MP Annasaheb Jolle on Thursaday met Union Aviation Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia in New Delhi for requesting the extension of runway, resumption of flights and new routes from Belagavi airport.
They discussed resumption of flight services from the Belagavi airport to various major cities and to invited Aviation Minister Scindia for the inauguration of Fight Training Academy (FTO) in Belagavi.
During the discussion, they mentioned that, Flights to New-Delhi, Pune and Nashik from Belagavi Airport have been canceled in recent days, causing inconvenience to the travellers of this region, requested minister to initiate action for the resumption of these routes and explore new routes like Belagavi-Varanasi, Belagavi-Lucknow.
MP’s also demanded for extension of runway. They said, currently, runway at Belagavi airport is 2300 m, there is a need to increase it to 3,100 m to facilitate the larger aircrafts operations.

They informed that, Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia has repsonded positively to all the demands.
