Elections to the posts of Mayor and Deputy Mayor of Belagavi are likely to be held in January first or second week, Member of Legislative Assembly Abhay Patil said.
Speaking to press persons in Belagavi on Friday, Belagavi (South) MLA Abhay Patil said: “I have met CM Basavaraj Bommai, According to urban development department sources, the election commission will announce the date of election in the next couple of days. It would be likely in first or second week of January.”
The mayoral elections of the Belagavi City Corporation (BCC), pending for over 15 months. The elections to the 58 wards of the BCC were held in September 2021, in which the BJP won the with highest seats that is 35 seats. Due to reservation issue, Mayoral elections delayed.
