Alok Kumar, ADGP, law and order, who visited Belagavi city on Monday to monitor security for the Ganesh Chaturthi festival held a division level meeting of police officers of Belagavi.
He said ‘After a long break of two years owing to the Covid-19 pandemic, Sarvajanik Ganeshostsav Mandals are all set to celebrate Ganeshotsav in all its glory in the city. Our officers have done preparations. Rapid Action Force has arrived in Belagavi. This time drones are being used. We have also provided sufficient number of KSRP and Home Guard personnel.
“In all districts, drones will be used by the police. We will use drones during processions, huge gatherings and other sensitive areas. We have trained staff to handle drone cameras and police will take care of this. We have enough drone cameras in the department which will be used to curb anti-social activities.” he said.
We are in constant contact with Sarvajanik Ganeshotsav Mandals. WhatsApp groups are being formed and advice is being exchanged. We use a reflective jacket at night. He expressed confidence that according to us there will be no problem this time.

Talking about the installation of Veer Savarkar portrait in Ganeshotsav pendals, he said permission should be obtained from local bodies to put portraits of various freedom fighters in public places.

Use of DJ, sound system in Ganeshotsava should be done as per Supreme Court guidelines. If the guidelines are violated our officials will take legal action. He said.
