Belagavi MP Mangala Angadi met with Sanjeev Kishore, the General Manager of South Western Railway (SWR), to discuss the speedy implementation of the Belagavi-Kittur-Dharwad railway line. This railway line, spanning 73 km, was approved by the central government in 2019 with a budget of Rs 974 crore.
However, despite the approval and the release of funds, the project has not progressed as expected over the past four years. MP Mangala Angadi has requested the authorities to conduct a land survey for land acquisition between Kittur-Belagavi in order to move the project forward.
The delay in the construction of the railway bridge at level crossing No. 281 in Tilakwadi has caused inconvenience for motorists. MP Mangala Angadi has urged the authorities to resume the stalled work promptly.
Recognizing the importance of facilitating travel for devotees from North Karnataka to Phandarapur, MP Mangala Angadi has suggested the launch of a direct train connection from Belagavi to Pandharpur. Additionally, she has also requested the establishment of train connections between Belagavi-Pune and Belagavi-Chennai. In response, GM Kishore has assured MP Mangala Angadi that these requests will be taken into consideration.
