Larsen & Toubro is all set to develop a Rs 571 crore 24×7 water supply scheme in the Belagavi city. The Belagavi district commissioner MG Hiremath on Friday handed over the project to the EPC major L&T company.
L&T has won the contract for Design, Build, Operate, Maintain and Transfer of water supply systems in Belagavi. The projects are largely funded by the World Bank.
Currently there is 24X7 drinking water supply in 10 wards out of 58 wards in Belagavi city. The responsibility of supplying drinking water 24×7 to remaining 48 wards have been given to the L&T Company by the Belagavi City Corporation. On Friday, the officials of the Belagavi Water supply Board handed over documents to L&T official’s.
The Belagavi DC MG Hiremath has handed over the agreement letter to Hardik Desai, water department, L&T company.

As per the agreement, L&T company has to manage 24×7 water supply in all wards of Belagavi city corporation. Company has to complete the project within 5 years from date of Agreement. And maintenance for the next 7 years from date of commission.

The project aims to deliver a continuous pressurized water supply (24X7) to consumers and achieve target NRW (Non-Revenue Water) by reducing losses through the development of suitable water infrastructure and utility improvements.
