5 Years on, Central bus stand is still incomplete. However today Belagavi South constituency mla Abhay Patil has assured that Central Bus stand will be thrown open in the month of April this year.
Speaking to the reporters on Thursday after the press meet on “Nitin Gadkari to lay foundation for 5 National Highway projects worth Rs.3972 Cr. Covering 238 km length” he replied to the question of journalist, said that ‘80% of the work has already completed and it will be made open by April this year for sure’.
The ₹32 crore high-tech Central bus stand work that started in December 2016 has got delayed due to various obstacles including the COVID-19 pandemic, Manpower and Latest source says that Nashik based company which had won the project has given sub-contract to other firm who is not receiving regular payments from the main contractor causing delay again.
Daily more than 2000 buses ply – Since Belagavi is located on the border between Karnataka and Maharashtra, over 2,000 buses from different places enter the terminus daily. Hundreds of buses travel to Hubballi, Bengaluru, Hyderabad, Pune, Mumbai, Goa, Chennai, Bagalkot, Mysuru, Vijayapura, Bidar and Davanagere. The temporary place created for parking of buses at the bus terminus is also falling short. According to sources, over 60,000 people use this terminus to go to different destinations every day.
