Belagavi Airport bags award under Regional Connectivity Scheme

Belagavi Airport – The Third busiest airport of Karnataka bags Udan award for the first time in the ‘Underserved Airport with Most RCS routes operationalised’ Catagory.

Union Civil Aviation Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia on Monday inaugurated the ‘UDAN Utsav’ at Veer Surendra Sai (VSS) Airport in Jharsuguda. During the event Udan Awards were conferred.

Under the catagory of ‘Underserved Airport with most RCS routes operationalised’, five airports have been choosen and awards were presented. Namely, Durgapur Airport, Shillong Airport, Prayagraj Airport, Belagavi Airport and Jamnagar Airport.

The airport director’s were given certificates of appreciation. On behalf of Belagavi Airport director, Sh Anil Gupta ,Executive Director(RCS) & Sh R K Malik,GM(RCS) has received the certificate from the Minsiter.

UDAN (Ude Desh Ka Aam Nagarik) is a first-of-its-kind scheme that aims to create affordable yet economically viable and profitable flights on regional routes along with boosting tourism and creating new jobs in the sector.

Under the ‘Ude Desh ka Aam Nagrik (udan)’ scheme, flights, at affordable prices, are being operated from Belagavi by Spicejet, StarAir, Alliance Air, Indigo and Trujet. In the past two years, the number of flights to and from Belagavi has been steadily climbing. Most of these flights connect Belagavi with other Important Cities such as Mumbai, Hyderabad, Pune, Ahmedabad, Surat, Indore, Nashik, Mysuru, Tirupati, Kadapa and Jodhpur.

Also During the event, Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia interacted with Belagavi airport director, Rajesh Kumar Maurya and beneficiary flyers of Udan through Video conferencing.
